DataVolt signs agreement with MODON to build 55,000 sqm data centre in Riyadh

DataVolt , a developer , investor , and operator of sustainable digital infrastructure , and The Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones , MODON have agreed land lease terms for the development of a state-of-the-art AI-Ready data centre in Riyadh . The 55,000 square meter plot is located in east Riyadh ’ s First Technology Park .

The data centre facility will be designed for advanced AI processing and will serve growing demand from hyperscalers , cloud and content providers , and enterprises in Saudi Arabia .
DataVolt will build a sustainable data centre facility on the plot with cutting-edge cooling systems , and with an advance circularity approach . The data centre facility will also be powered by optimised energy solutions .
The Land Lease Agreement with MODON kicks off DataVolt ’ s development of a sustainable AI-Ready data centre that will offer cutting-edge cooling systems and an eco-friendly design .
“ We are providing mission-critical digital infrastructure that will support Saudi Arabia ’ s position as a global provider in AI while offering customers sustainable data centre solutions . Over many months , we have worked in collaboration with MODON to develop this project and we are proud to move forward and deliver another state-of-the-art facility ,” said Rajit Nanda , CEO at DataVolt .
DataVolt ’ s investors and team have successfully developed and operated over 20GW of renewable energy assets across nine countries , deploying scalable and cost-effective solutions . Its unique approach increases operational efficiencies , reduces carbon emissions , and enables customers to grow their digital footprint while meeting sustainability goals .
Modon , since its establishment in 2001 has been undertaking the development and supervision of industrial lands and integrated infrastructure . Today , it oversees 39 existing and under development industrial cities across Saudi Arabia , in addition to private industrial cities and complexes .
DataVolt to develop AI factory campus in Oxagon
NEOM , the sustainable region taking shape in northwest Saudi Arabia , and DataVolt , a Saudibased international developer , investor and operator of data centres , signed a landmark agreement , marking a significant step toward realising Saudi Arabia ’ s vision for a sustainable , datadriven economy .
The development will take a phased approach , with phase one – funded by an initial investment of USD 5 billion – expected to be operational by 2028 . Aligning with Oxagon ’ s ambition , the 1.5-gigawatt factory will integrate a wide range of computing densities and energy-efficient architectures to address the global challenges posed by traditional data centres .
As part of the agreement , Oxagon will lease DataVolt the land for the development of the facility and provide the sustainable data centre operator with infrastructure support . The ambition is for the facility to be entirely powered by renewable energy , providing a fully integrated , end-to-end data centre solution .
The project will utilise advanced cooling technologies and is designed to operate at net zero , addressing the global challenges of power availability and the carbon footprint posed by data centres .
Oxagon ’ s strategic location on the Red Sea coast , combined with access to subsea cables providing fibre connectivity , alongside cost-competitive renewable energy , green hydrogen , and a rapidly expanding industrial ecosystem , makes it the ideal location for DataVolt to develop a large-scale green AI factory . p
