EDITOR’ S NOTE

Greetings to the readers of Intelligent CIO Middle East. Disruptive technologies like Generative AI carry with them the possibility of boosting competitive businesses and early adopters to a leading position ahead of the market pack. But a disruptive technology by its definition also upsets existing equations and equilibriums to jump ahead.

Not all businesses are set up to do this and not all businesses can successfully and constructively upset their internal and external carts with the same efficiency and speed. Also success is untested and untried and such cart or technology disruptors carry with them a huge element of risk. So there is an inevitable shakeout and sometimes an internal revolt as well that is difficult to predict.
In this month’ s lead feature, top executives from Dataiku, Endava, Infinite Reality, JAGGAER, NTT DATA, Omnix, SandboxAQ, UiPath, Zoho, share their perspectives on how regional enterprises should scale their IT and business operations using Generative AI, the business value that follows, and the various challenges that may arise along this road map.
One of the most significant obstacles with Generative AI is the quality and availability of data, and organisations struggle with data silos, incomplete data, and inconsistent data governance, all of which hinder the development of effective AI models.
Integrating AI into legacy systems and ensuring smooth collaboration between IT and business units can slow down progress. Resistance to change within the organisation, fear of job displacement, and a lack of clear communication around AI’ s benefits also hinders adoption says Dataiku’ s Sid Bhatia.
Without a clear understanding of the return on investment from AI initiatives, companies risk failing to justify their expenditures. AI is often treated as a technological experiment rather than a business enabler, leading to a lack of alignment between AI initiatives and corporate strategy says Endava’ s Gavin Jackson.
And in this month’ s cover feature we look at how Jebel Ali Racecourse leveraged document scanners and intelligent scanning software from Kodak Alaris to convert 20,000 handwritten forms into data in 120 minutes. Parallel threading allowed the local engine to connect with a cloud-native AI engine, process the data, and retrieve it within the required timeframe.
Turn these pages to read more about the adoption of digital and business transformation across leading regional enterprises.
And in this month’ s Editor’ s Question, executives from Omnix, Cloud Box, SoftServe, Check Point Software, Fortinet, share their answers on how regional CIOs and CISOs should evaluate modern cybersecurity solutions for their resilience against AI driven malware and advanced AI driven threats.
Wishing you the best of business success in the summer months ahead.
