& Carrier & Wholesale Services( C & WS), an international wholesale arm of global technology group e &, has announced the successful landing and integration of the 2Africa submarine cable system at its carrier-neutral SmartHub data centre in the UAE.
Building on the completion of the core 2Africa system announced by the consortium, this milestone brings the cable’ s capacity into service locally, strengthening the UAE’ s international connectivity infrastructure and reinforcing its position as a global digital hub.
Spanning approximately 45,000 kilometres, 2Africa is the world’ s largest submarine cable system, connecting Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East and plays a vital role in meeting the region’ s rapidly increasing international bandwidth requirements.

By diversifying international routes, the 2Africa system ensures more reliable and seamless connectivity for carriers, content providers, enterprises and consumers.

Orange Egypt launches first Digital Centre in Upper Egypt in partnership with GIZ and Aswan University

Orange Egypt has launched its first digital training centre in

Upper Egypt, in cooperation with the German Agency for International Cooperation( GIZ) and in partnership with Aswan University, marking a significant step towards empowering and upskilling young people in the region.
The Orange Digital Centre in Aswan extends Orange Egypt’ s corporate social responsibility strategy, supported by the German government, and focuses on equipping youth with in-demand digital skills while preparing talent to enter the labour market. The initiative builds on the success of the Orange Digital Centre in Cairo, established in 2021, which has already trained thousands of young people in digital technologies.

Shaheera Wasfi, Head of Governance and Community Development at GIZ, highlighted the initiative as an example of effective public – private collaboration to expand opportunity and strengthen youth participation in Digital Transformation. The centre also provides advisory support, events and hackathons to foster innovation, bridge the digital divide and promote social inclusion across Upper Egypt.
Dr Loay Saad El-Din Nosrat, President of Aswan University, said:“ The university’ s participation aligns with national priorities to support Digital Transformation and human capacity building.”
He noted that hosting the centre on campus helps link academic education with labour market needs while ensuring integration between training programmes and academic disciplines.
