Umovity, the joint brand bringing together Econolite and PTV Group, alongside Tatweer, has deployed the Middle East’ s first adaptive ramp metering system.
Installed on Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Street, one of Abu Dhabi’ s busiest routes, the system uses real-time data to control traffic entering the highway, helping ease congestion, improve journey reliability, deliver environmental benefits and generate estimated annual savings of up to US $ 2.6 million in delayrelated costs.
The project combines Econolite’ s real-time traffic control software with advanced ramp metering and monitoring technology from ST Engineering, while Tatweer led the local engineering, integration and deployment.
Nicholas Ghia, CEO, Umovity Software, stated:“ This project demonstrates the real strength of Umovity – combining Econolite’ s field-proven traffic control technologies with a broader ecosystem of advanced traffic management and analytics capabilities. By delivering a solution that integrates seamlessly into Abu Dhabi’ s existing mobility platform, we are enabling measurable impact – reducing congestion, improving travel reliability and creating long-term value for the city.”
