JetBrains expands AI platform
JetBrains has unveiled a new suite of AI capabilities designed to help enterprises scale AI adoption across software development teams while maintaining governance, visibility and cost control.

The new offering, JetBrains AI for Teams and Organisations, will begin rolling out gradually from July, introducing shared AI context, cloud-based agent workflows, centralised governance tools and a new consumption-based pricing model.
The platform has been developed to support the growing use of multiple AI tools within engineering teams, allowing developers to continue using their preferred environments, including JetBrains IDEs, Claude Code, Codex and other AI agents, while giving organisations centralised oversight.
" Developers use different AI tools depending on the task. That freedom is a good thing," said Oleg Koverznev, Vice President and Head of Agent Systems at JetBrains. " Teams shouldn ' t have to standardise on a single vendor to benefit from AI."
He added that while individual developers are becoming more productive through AI, organisations often struggle with fragmented workflows, isolated context and rising operational costs.
" AI shouldn ' t force organisations to choose between developer flexibility and organisational control," Koverznev said.
Among the new capabilities is Team Automations and Cloud Agents, enabling long-running engineering tasks to execute in managed cloud environments while remaining visible and accessible across development teams. Organisations will also be able to automate AI agents based on repository events, schedules and engineering workflows.
JetBrains is also introducing JetBrains Context, which provides AI agents with repository intelligence and cross-repository knowledge to help them understand complex codebases more efficiently, reducing execution time, lowering AI costs and improving code quality.
A new management platform, JetBrains Central, will give engineering leaders centralized governance over AI adoption, including policy management, access controls, analytics, cost attribution and visibility across AI tools and models used throughout the organization. The company is also launching JetBrains Central CLI, extending those governance capabilities to developers using command-line AI tools such as Claude Code, Codex and Gemini CLI.
JetBrains said the platform is vendoragnostic, supporting integrations through the Model Context Protocol( MCP) and Agent Communication Protocol( ACP), allowing organisations to adopt multiple AI technologies without sacrificing governance or developer choice.
Alongside the product launch, the company announced it is replacing traditional AI licences for business customers with a flexible AI credits model.
" We believe companies need transparent and sustainable pricing as they adopt AI and agentic development at scale," Koverznev said. " This means no hidden fees, no deeply subsidised packages and no proxy pricing that can lead to unexpected cost increases later."
Under the new commercial model, organisations will be able to allocate AI credits across developers over a 12-month period, with future support for additional AI-powered services beyond large language model usage.
JetBrains said the new capabilities have been tested with selected design partners and will be rolled out progressively to business customers throughout July and August, while most individual and non-commercial users will not initially be affected.
Looking ahead, the company said its strategy is to build an open AI ecosystem that connects developers, AI agents and organisations without locking customers into a single model or workflow.
" Engineering teams need more than SOTA models," Koverznev said. " They need shared workflows, reusable context, managed execution, organisational visibility and governance that allows AI adoption to scale safely across engineering organisations." •
