SUSE joins Open Secure AI Alliance to advance sovereign enterprise AI

As enterprises accelerate AI adoption, concerns around control, security and digital sovereignty are becoming increasingly important. Reliance on third-party API endpoints can expose organisations to rising costs, potential context leakage and unexpected access restrictions.

Owning enterprise intelligence, however, requires more than deploying an open-weight model. It demands a technology stack spanning silicon, hardened runtimes and AI frameworks that is transparent, inspectable and secure by design.
Recent security incidents have highlighted the potential limitations of proprietary AI endpoints, particularly when security teams require visibility and local control to investigate and contain threats. Open-weight models deployed on local infrastructure are increasingly offering the capabilities needed to analyse complex threats while giving enterprises greater control over their data and operations.
Against this backdrop, SUSE has joined NVIDIA and other industry leaders in the Open Secure AI Alliance, which aims to advance open, secure and sovereign private enterprise AI.

TII helps shape TRACE open standard for sovereign AI

The Technology Innovation Institute( TII), the applied research pillar of Abu Dhabi’ s Advanced Technology Research Council( ATRC), has announced its participation as a founding collaborator in TRACE( Trust, Runtime Attestation, and Compliance Evidence), an open standard designed to produce portable, hardware-attested evidence of what ran, under which policies and which data classifications were involved.

Developed with founding collaborators AMD, Intel, OPAQUE and TII, and supported by Microsoft, the specification has been contributed to the Linux Foundation, which provides vendor-neutral governance. The technical workstream is hosted by the Coalition for Secure AI( CoSAI).
The standard, originated by OPAQUE, addresses a growing challenge as organisations move from isolated model deployments towards agentic systems operating across sensitive data and tools.
Running a model on infrastructure controlled by an organisation establishes where computation takes place. However, it does not establish what ran once the system entered production, whether approved models and policies remained in force or how an agent interacted with the data it was given.
This distinction is particularly important for sovereign AI. National-scale deployments require more than domestic infrastructure and models. They also require evidence that can be independently verified without relying solely on trust in the system operator.
TII is contributing to TRACE across three areas of institutional expertise: cryptography-based confidential computing, post-quantum cryptography and identity and authentication. The institute is involved in drafting the specification, protocol design and integrating sovereign components aligned with the standard. •
