Nedaa and Nokia to establish Innovation & Creativity Lab in Dubai
Nedaa, a government corporation specialising in the deployment of wireless communications technologies for Dubai, has announced that it has forged a strategic partnership with Finnish multinational ICT giant Nokia to establish an Innovation and Creativity Lab in Dubai. The pioneering technology incubator will support ongoing efforts to transform Dubai into a‘ Smart City’ under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
Nedaa and its approved technology partner, Esharah Etisalat Security Solution, will collaborate with Nokia to accelerate the development of Smart City applications and to enrich Dubai’ s Internet of Things( IoT) ecosystem through the Lab. The trio will particularly focus on solutions for Government and Mission-Critical Services in the field of Education, Health, Utilities, and Transport, including aviation and air traffic management.
Set to open by the first half of 2017 at Dubai’ s Internet City, the Innovation and Creativity Lab will have access to Nokia’ s advanced technologies – including its proprietary Intelligent Management Platform for
All Connected Things( IMPACT) and next-generation radio systems. The technology solutions to be unraveled by the Lab will cover the domains of IoT Platforms and Applications, Next- Generation Internet Protocol( IP) and Wireless Connectivity, Security, and Big Data and Analytics.

Earlier this year, Nedaa and Esharah Etisalat Security Solutions commissioned Nokia to deploy a Smart City solution based on 5G-ready nextgeneration networks.
DarkMatter’ s Pegasus signs MoU with Dubai Police to drive big data
DarkMatter has announced that Pegasus, a DarkMatter company, has entered a Memorandum of Understanding( MoU) with Dubai Police to provide a comprehensive Big Data platform on which custom analytic solutions will be developed to help solve and prevent crime and make citizens safer.
DarkMatter had previously been working with Dubai Police in this area under the Dubai Future Accelerators initiative, and the MoU signals the formalisation of the scope of this interaction. The firm will formally assist Dubai Police in the development and management of Big Data capabilities in a bid to assist Dubai Police to investigate and fight crime in both the physical and virtual worlds.
Given the highly interconnected nature of modern digital environments, the amount of data being generated and exchanged among individuals, devices, systems and other entities is growing exponentially. The ability to organise,
interpret and utilise this data is fundamental to being able to make qualified and timely real-life decisions.
Pegasus Big Data Platform is capable of processing billions of data points per day to power a variety of analytic solutions that generate critical insights in near real-time. In relation to the MoU with Dubai Police, Pegasus will assist Police authorities to maintain safety and security by applying both technology tools and professional services to create a holistic ecosystem for producing high-value and high-impact information to drive decision-making.
