PROJECT UPDATE LATEST REGIONAL PROJECT UPDATE EGYPT EGYPT Egypt has been named as one of the Middle East countries where Orange Business Services has signed a contract with Careem, the MENA region’s leading ride-hailing company, to provide network and contact centre services. Careem, a start-up now valued at more than US $1 billion and the only tech unicorn in the Middle East, is also rolling out its services across the key markets of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), as well as Jordan. Careem’s customers order a car service from a digital app, and the company can manage calls from customers easily and cost effectively, regardless of where they are physically located. The customer can track the progress of their driver in real time via the Careem App and make payments automatically without having to worry about carrying cash. OMAN OMAN The National Bank of Oman and Information Technology Authority (ITA) have signed an agreement to utilise a custom banking solution that offers greater control over transactions and financial management. Through centralisation and automation, the solution addresses specific challenges, such as high volumes of daily payments and multiple handoffs in manual processing. It will work to reduce the turnaround time of clearing transactions while giving the ITA the ability to view reports and processes in real time through a highly secure web portal, whilst also helping decrease human error when dealing with a high volume of daily transactions. 20 INTELLIGENTCIO www.intelligentcio.com
