The National Bank of Oman (NBO) and the Information Technology Authority (ITA) have signed an agreement to utilise a custom banking solution that offers greater control over transactions and financial management. The custom solution will help the ITA enhance its efficiencies and give us better reporting capabilities while supporting the growth of Omani businesses.” The Sultanate Signs an MoU with FIRST to increase cybersecurity Oman has signed a memorandum of understanding with First, a global forum of incident response and security teams. Eng. Bader Alsalhi, the Director General of the National Centre for Information Security, and Margrete Raaum, the chairman of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), signed the MoU during the general annual meeting of the FIRST organisation. The MoU aims to reinforce cooperation in responding to cybersecurity, organising events, training, and sharing warnings about attacks. FIRST aims to foster cooperation and coordination in incident prevention, to stimulate rapid reaction to incidents, and to promote information sharing 12 INTELLIGENTCIO among members and the community at large. It brings together a variety of computer security incident response teams from government, commercial, and educational organisations. FIRST has more than 300 members, spread over Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe and Oceania. Since 1990, when FIRST was founded, its members succeeded in dealing with thousands of security-related attacks that affect millions of computer systems. Eng Badar Alsalehi said: “This cooperation aims at achieving the vision and objectives of the National Cybersecurity Centres of the OIC in reinforcing the relations between the centres in the organisation, exchanging information and experiences in cybersecurity fields and aligning the cybersecurity policies with the rules and legislative regulations. “In addition to encouraging research and innovation in this field, building the cybersecurity capabilities and raising awareness among the member states as well as helping them to establish and develop the National Cybersecurity Centres.” www.intelligentcio.com
