Smartphone app launched for Qatar
2022 construction workers
T
he Supreme Committee for Delivery and
Legacy (SC) has launched a smartphone
app to help construction workers improve
their professional and personal lives during
their time in Qatar.
Initiated by the SC’s Workers’ Welfare
Department and Special Projects Office,
in collaboration with the Qatar Innovation
Community, the app was developed to
utilise the popularity of smartphones with
workers and benefit them by providing a
customised platform capable of enhancing
their everyday lives. Following an initial pilot
with 250 workers the ‘Madad – SC Workers’
app has been rolled out to all 22,000 workers
engaged on SC infrastructure projects. The
word ‘madad’ means ‘help’ in both Arabic
and Hindi.
Led by the SC’s Projects Advisor, Oscar
Liebana, in collaboration with local tech
experts A101, the app was developed

following an intensive consultation period
with SC workers.
During the development phase, workers at
Lusail Stadium were asked for their feedback
on the features, functionality and design
of the app, which is intended as a one-stop
shop for all their needs. Mahmoud Qutub,
the SC’s Workers’ Welfare Executive Director,
said: “This app helps us to provide support
for workers whenever and wherever they
need it. It also allows us to establish direct
communication with them, which we know
from experience is vital.”
