EDITOR ’ S QUESTION

With the acceleration in Digital Transformation across many industries , the role of CIOs is becoming increasingly important in many businesses . For the use of video , we see an ever-closer relationship between camera and sensor data and core IT assets .

This reflects a general move among organisations towards a future IT architecture in which data management and analysis happens in an “ intelligent core ” fed by data and information from users , systems , sensors , and outside sources . Video technologies are moving from a pure ‘ insurance ’ and security purpose to a real business differentiator , e . g . in citizen service , product quality , patient care , and customer experience .
CIOs are now concentrating on business results , agility and enhancing the customer experience through technology . Simultaneously , simplifying back-end processes through automation is becoming one of IT leaders ’ major emphasis areas . Despite the increasing need for digitalisation in the business , Mckinsey reports that around 79 % of organisations are still in the early phases of technological transformation .
In today ’ s context , it is owing to key concerns connected to legacy system obstacles such as integration , security , and so on . As a result , there is a need to build an environment that allows for holistic access to emerging technology . Fostering innovation along with the evolution of Digital Transformation is one of the priorities of CIOs today .
Based on my experience , CIOs are spending quite a lot of time on Digital Transformation . Not least after the pandemic , which has sped up digitisation in many businesses as a way to keep operations afloat . Specifically , within our field , we are seeing that video analytics solutions are rapidly changing status from a standalone edge technology to a core intelligent IT asset .
CIOs with a business mindset are rethinking their tactics and workplace cultures in order to turn IT into a profit centre . Direct revenue is a relatively new idea , yet every firm is progressively becoming at least partially a technology company .
Internal issues such as employee resentment , a lack of the necessary people skills , insufficient strategy work , and an unfavourable organisational structure are frequently to blame .
Inadequate technological solutions can also be a concern , and we aim to assist our clients by providing a completely open platform for video and sensor data management .
CIOs with a business mindset are rethinking their tactics and workplace cultures in order to turn IT into a profit centre . Direct revenue is a relatively new idea , yet every firm is progressively becoming at least partially a technology company . That doesn ’ t imply they ’ re abandoning their main business , but they are developing technological products as part of their services because clients demand them . The CIO ’ s position has evolved substantially over time . Previously , the subject was the CIO as a change agent and moving the organisation forward . However , they are now an important player in digital strategy , and they are assessing those improvements in terms of a favourable return on investment . p
