Alibaba Cloud upgrades datacentre with Dubai Holding to provide ECS , EBS
Alibaba Cloud , the digital technology and intelligence backbone of Alibaba Group , announced its collaboration with its longstanding partner Dubai Holding in its Dubai-based datacentre to upgrade the facility with state-of-the-art cloud infrastructure and wider range of products and services in analytics , databases , industry solutions and AI services to offer customers the best possible digital solutions during their digitalisation journey .
Through the upgraded datacentre , Alibaba Cloud will make available to the local customers a series of its proven infrastructure products such as Alibaba Cloud 6th Generation Elastic Compute Service , ECS instance and latest Elastic Block Storage , EBS service which offer significantly higher computing capacity , higher bandwidth , lower latency , and improved performance . This range of latest products aims to provide enterprise customers with a wider scope of cloud services covering network , storage security and compute .
Additionally , the upgrade to the datacentre will include providing best-in-class cloud solutions to meet business needs with the latest analytics tools to improve business operations and performance . The facility will
also comprise of a revamp of its advanced database to provide faster , more efficient data processing as well as industry-specific solutions and AI-powered services that will address unique challenges of a customer ’ s industry and drive better results .
The announcement was made during Alibaba Cloud ’ s Cloud Day summit in Dubai during the launching ceremony in the presence of Dubai Holding Chief Technology Officer Boris Rusafov , and Daniel Jiang , General Manager of the Middle East , Turkey and Africa , Alibaba Cloud Intelligence .
Alongside the commitment with Dubai Holding , Alibaba Cloud also revealed an enhanced partner strategy with more allocated resources and dedicated initiatives to provide comprehensive support for partners throughout local customers ’ digitalisation journey in UAE and the wider Middle East region .
Etihad Cargo expands online capability for booking of customised and specialised goods
Etihad Cargo , the cargo , and logistics arm of Etihad Airways , has further expanded its online booking portal capabilities as part of the carrier ’ s ongoing digitalisation strategy . In the latest development of the carrier ’ s online booking portal , Etihad Cargo has introduced online pet shipment bookings for dogs and cats , online dangerous goods bookings and a custom feed within the customer dashboard .
Traditionally , booking pet shipments has required customers to send multiple documents via email . Following the launch of the online pet shipment booking feature , Etihad Cargo ’ s customers can book the shipment of dogs and cats via the online booking portal , making the booking process easier than ever before .
Booking the shipment of dangerous goods via the enhanced online booking portal has also been simplified . Etihad Cargo ’ s booking portal now enables the capture of United Nations , UN numbers , which are globally recognised classifications that identify hazardous substances in international shipping .
The new custom feed within the customer dashboard within the portal will further improve the customer experience , enabling Etihad Cargo to customise the content it shares with customers . In addition to sharing information on green lanes and updates , the custom feed will show relevant offers and campaigns , making it easier for customers to access information relevant to their sector or region .
The new features launched as part of this development phase complement past updates , which saw the carrier introduce a more streamlined booking process that enabled users to create and confirm a booking within 45 seconds . Further enhancements are already planned and will include features focused on specific documents and validations by origin and destination .
