Legrand’ s Keor FLEX modular UPS wins Data Centre World 2026 award for circular infrastructure
Keor FLEX recognised for its modular, reusable architecture and high efficiency, demonstrating how critical power infrastructure can support sustainable data centre operations.
Legrand, a global leader in electrical and digital building infrastructures, has announced that its Keor FLEX three-phase modular Uninterruptible Power Supply( UPS) has won the Best Reuse or Recycling of Products, Energy or Data Centre Infrastructure category at the industry-leading Data Centre World Awards 2026.
The award recognises solutions that minimise waste, extend the lifecycle of resources and contribute to a more sustainable and secure technology future. Keor FLEX was selected for its modular, hot-swappable architecture, high recyclability and industry-leading efficiency, demonstrating how critical power systems can be engineered for long-term reuse rather than replacement.
Presented at Data Centre World London( March 4 – 5 at ExCel London), the awards celebrate innovation and operational excellence across the data centre industry.
Engineering circularity into critical power
Unlike traditional monolithic UPS systems that require full-system replacement at end-of-life, Keor FLEX was engineered from the outset for lifecycle extension and modular reuse.
Its true hot-swappable modular architecture allows individual power or bypass modules to be replaced, refurbished or redeployed independently, significantly reducing end-of-life waste and extending overall system longevity.
The system’ s‘ pay-as-you-grow’ design enables operators to deploy only the capacity they need, when they need it. This avoids over-provisioning, reduces embodied carbon and prevents stranded infrastructure assets.
Keor FLEX achieves:
• 98.6 % efficiency in online double conversion mode( TÜV certified)
• Over 99 % efficiency in ECO mode
• 85 % recyclability rate( IEC / TR 62635)
• Over 69 % recyclable metal composition
• 50 % recycled packaging content
• 1.2 MW in just 2.8 m ² footprint
By integrating advanced Silicon Carbide( SiC) technology and a low-impedance internal busbar architecture, Keor FLEX reduces thermal stress and extends semiconductor and power module lifetimes, supporting longer and more reliable reuse.
Designed to reduce systemwide waste
Keor FLEX is engineered to reduce lifecycle waste by avoiding unnecessary battery replacement. Its universal battery interface lets operators keep and reuse existing VRLA, Li-ion or Nickel-Zinc battery strings during upgrades, reducing premature disposal and the embodied impact of new battery packs.
Its internal busbar architecture reduces cable joints and common thermal failure points, while a distributed resilience design, validated through FMECA modelling, limits unnecessary module swaps and extends operational life.
The system also supports smart-grid functionality, including peak shaving and fast frequency response, helping data centres reduce grid stress and protect upstream infrastructure from AI-driven power spikes.
In addition, Keor FLEX has been validated as AI-ready, with performance aligned to high-density GPU workloads and tested under AI load conditions in accordance with IEC 62040-3 standards.
