tThere ’ s been lots of hype around AI – how far do you believe it will be transformative from a business perspective ?
The hype is everywhere , especially in the UAE , but the key thing from my perspective is the impact it will have on businesses . The way in which we as humans will benefit from AI depends on how much we can use it in business .
SAP Business AI is our offering to the market and this is what we ’ re building in our labs . With business AI , we ' re helping customers bring out their best by building cutting-edge AI innovations and we do it in three ways .
First , we built our copilot , Joule , which can interact with any of the applications we run , including HR and procurement applications , core ERP , and so on . From my point of view , this will become the landing page of any user and you can ask Joule any questions about your business . This is the first layer of GenAI in our offering .
The second is the embedded AI within the transactions and processes of SAP and all the solutions we have today . This , of course , gives us an advantage over other competitors and applications in the market .
The third is where we build use cases with customers to help them solve certain business challenges they may have . We partner with many of the AI players and technology players in the market .
Having these three components as part of our offering isn ’ t about hype , it ’ s about helping the business run efficiently and get the best out of these AI innovations .
Can you tell us about SAP ’ s AI differentiator and why someone should choose you over one of your competitors ? and you need to train it . In our case , we already know the logic and the data , so it ’ s an effortless process .
A further advantage is that we give customers and partners full choice over which leading GenAI model they want to use for their own extensions . We created a platform which is open to integrate with any LLM in the market – there is no restriction or limitation over the tool you feel is most comfortable or beneficial for you . We can integrate this with our platform and customers can benefit from the contextual data we have to achieve the desired outcome .
I would also like to flag our AI copilot Joule as another example of our competitive edge . Joule is already live in our human resources , finance , ERP , sales , services , marketing , commerce applications and platform solutions , transforming how people work , and will be integrated into even more of our solutions before the end of the year . Joule responds to questions with the correct answers and validations to help you resolve any business challenges you might have , based on the data already residing within your ERP or any SAP applications .
Can you highlight some of the key benefits of SAP ’ s natural-language , GenAI co-pilot , Joule ?
At this year ' s Sapphire – SAP ’ s annual flagship customer event – we announced the expansion of the integration of Joule across the enterprise portfolio . As mentioned , Joule will be applicable across all applications and several customers are already benefitting from it .

We have big plans for the future in that Joule will be the unique copilot globally across businesses .
There are many reasons – one is that quality data is the foundation of quality AI , so if your data is good , the AI outcome will be good , and no one has better or more business data than SAP . Today , all our customers are using SAP locally and globally – their business data , all the important critical data , is within our system . This means we have a big competitive advantage in terms of building AI solutions and we do this in a way that always ensures our customer data privacy .
Another advantage is that SAP Business AI works straight out of the box . We don ' t have to teach the AI models about the data because we understand our data within our systems . If you introduce a third-party AI tool , it needs to understand what everything means
The big advantage of Joule is that it quickly sorts and contextualises your data . For example , you can ask it to create a job description to help with filtering CVs and get the right candidate for the right job . It also helps with communicating , fixing a meeting , an interview with a candidate and helping with employee performance , for example .
Joule helps business users access the SAP Help Portal content 95 % quicker and execute transactional tasks up to 90 % faster , without leaving their SAP applications .
We have big plans for the future in that Joule will be the unique copilot globally across businesses . We will also be integrating it with other copilots .
