CASE STUDY you give teams access to real-time information instead of static documents. That shift from loosely connected tools to an integrated operational backbone has been one of the biggest changes for us.
Quoting has been a major focus for TripleFast. Why was this such a strategic priority?
Because quoting directly impacts both revenue velocity and margin control.
Previously, our RFQs would be costed using an Excel-based calculator. The information would then move between teams, and we would record a simplified entry in ERP mainly for reference. It worked, but it was fragmented and timeconsuming. Turnaround could take up to ten days depending on complexity.
We’ ve placed much stronger discipline around part code creation and data structure. Previously, miscellaneous entries could create complexity over time. Now, we enforce structured coding practices that ensure data integrity from the outset.
Today, we use the native quote module within Epicor Kinetic. Quotes are generated within the system, with full visibility and traceability. That has reduced turnaround times dramatically, in many cases from around ten days to closer to two days.
But speed is only part of the benefit. We now have far greater pricing precision. Costs are calculated within a controlled framework, and the data feeds directly into downstream processes. So, it’ s not just faster, but cleaner and more accurate.
Epicor Kinetic deployed in the cloud felt like the natural progression. It gives us centralised management, stronger security, and removes the need to maintain infrastructure locally. From an IT perspective, that’ s a major advantage.
More importantly, it positions us for continuous improvement. Cloud isn’ t just a hosting model. It’ s an enabler for ongoing optimisation.
When you look at ERP as an operational backbone rather than just a system, what were you hoping to unlock?
For me, it was about discipline and visibility. Over time, organisations inevitably build workarounds – spreadsheets, manual steps, parallel processes. They solve immediate problems but fragment the bigger picture. We wanted to bring more of our core processes back into the system itself.
If quoting, costing, scheduling and reporting all live inside one structured environment, you reduce ambiguity. You reduce duplication. And
You’ ve also invested in the product configurator. How does that strengthen your commercial and manufacturing processes?
The product configurator has been a significant development for us.
We manufacture highly specified products, so dimensions, grades and materials vary considerably. We’ ve customised the configurator to reflect those parameters. Teams input the required specifications such as length, width, grade and so on and the system either references an existing part code or automatically creates one.
If cost data already exists, it’ s pulled through instantly. If not, the embedded costing logic calculates it based on predefined parameters. That feeds directly into the quote.
We’ re currently running this in parallel with our previous model to ensure full alignment, but the efficiency gains are clear. It reduces manual intervention and ensures that part creation, costing and quoting are fully synchronised. Long term, that level of precision strengthens both pricing confidence and production planning. www. intelligentcio. com
