COUNTRY FOCUS: UAE With the UAE leading the way in many aspects of Digital Transformation, Real- time technology is making a significant impact on the way enterprises are increasing efficiency in the Emirates. With Real-time technology requiring processes to be completed as they happen, we look at three contrasting use cases that illustrate how enterprises are transforming the way they operate. ///////////////// UAE enterprises enhance efficiency in Real-time I n most aspects of computing, the completion of processes can be done on a delayed basis, for instance, where information is aggregated, kept and stored for later use. Real-time technology though demands processes are completed as they happen in a time frame that is relatively imperceptible to the user. Firstly, we look at how the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company is taking advantage of a central hub ‘system of systems’ from AVEVA that transforms the control room by offering live data access across all operations. The benefits include a greater capacity to monitor operations, increase transparency, anticipate challenges, measure operational efficiency and enable better decisions based on accurate, real-time information. Then we look at how Dubai International Airport, the world’s busiest airport, has launched realtimeDXB, a bespoke cloud- based platform that offers real-time monitoring by gathering data from 50 operational systems to keep airport teams informed not only of current situations but events as they develop. Intelligent CIO looks at three use cases that demonstrate how the concept of Real-time is making its mark in the real world of business.
