CASE STUDY
Hassan said after the Nutanix deployment , GGCI is ready to respond to the regulators in a timely manner and at the same time meet the expectations of customers in this Digital Transformation era .
“ The regulator in Saudi Arabia is very strict and they impose a range of restrictions to ensure robust cybersecurity .
“ That includes stringent requirements on the level and frequency of reporting of certain network events to the regulator ,” he said .
GGCI ’ s legacy IT infrastructure – consisting of an eclectic mix of servers , storage and backup solutions – stood in the way of its growth plans because it did not smoothly accommodate the integration of applications that were mandated by Saudi Arabia ’ s regulators .
According to Hassan , GGCI ’ s legacy infrastructure challenges are a thing of the past as the company now has the agility to deliver new projects and the response time has improved enormously . “ The response time to implement any new project has changed tremendously within the group . The challenges in the past were mainly due to old versions of Windows OS ,” he said .
“ Nutanix is not only hardware , but it ’ s a software solution as well and the implementation has really made it easier for the GGCI IT team to innovate . The solution was implemented by Nutanix engineers , ITPS , a Nutanix partner and our in-house IT team .”
He pointed out that the IT team started working on the Nutanix boxes prior to receiving training from the vendor . “ The interface is user friendly and we can provide an efficient solution with great experience to our customers , while at the same time responding to the regulators more quickly .”
The Nutanix advantage
Following the implementation , GGCI now runs its core applications including HR ,
IT systems and its customer service call centres on the Nutanix platform , deploying Nutanix Flow and is currently testing Xi Leap and Xi Beam .
Nutanix Flow delivers a rich view of communications between virtual machines , allowing the setting of appropriate policies for environments .
In addition , it delivers advanced networking and security services , providing visibility into the virtual network , application-centric protection from network threats , malware , ransomware and automation of common networking operations .
