Adele Trombetta ’ s message to the delegates of COP28
Trombetta acknowledges that there is a lot of work to be done by government , regulators , corporations and individuals to accelerate the work that has been done thus far when it comes to protecting our planet . “ We need to keep up the momentum ,” she says .
“ COP is an important milestone bringing together world leaders , policy makers and experts each year to discuss the climate crisis on a global level and report on our progress . However , we cannot limit ourselves to these two weeks to double down on the work we need to do to protect our planet for future generations . That is something we need to do daily .”
She adds : “ I believe that with technology , it is possible to rethink business models in ways that are digital and low carbon , but also improve individual wellbeing and create opportunities for communities . That ’ s why my team and I are present in both the Blue Zone and Green Zone at COP28 exploring ways how we can work together with the public and private sector to make progress toward those outcomes .”
If we don ' t accelerate collective action we risk leaving a desolate legacy to future generations – and a world marred by extreme weather , ecological upheaval and dwindling resources . The urgency of this moment demands our attention now . Let us all become the architects of a sustainable future ; every step we take today , shapes the legacy we leave tomorrow .” p
